The Number Crunch Bunch is a speaking and listening tool, designed to promote mathematical discussion with groups of children, or a whole class. It is a series of cartoons, where characters explore mathematical misconceptions by discussing ideas. They are designed to intrigue and stimulate thinking and should be used as an introduction to areas of mathematics that some children find difficult. They are based on misconceptions outlined by the QCA Implications for Teaching and Learning. They can be used as a formative assessment tool and teachers can unpick the mathematics behind misconceptions and use appropriate tasks to consolidate and secure those areas of concern. They are a powerful tool for promoting exploration of mathematical misconceptions and an invaluable aid to any Key Stage Two teacher. Includes a Primary Licence so the games can be installed school wide.
